I thought I would find the best value for money but I am unfortunately disappointed for the first time at Decath... top waterproofing, top grip, but uncomfortable and painful from the first hike in less than 45 minutes... I have bruises on my ankle and above the foot. Despite wearing great socks and even compression stockings to test the difference, I remain extremely painful. 110€, 3 flat walks and a hike I have to stop wearing them to find another pair but it probably won't be a decathlon brand... Too bad I can't return or exchange them anymore because I've already used them...

very comfortable but breaks quickly

Shoes are very comfortable. I have driven many beautiful kilometers with it. Now discovered during the last wash that the leather is completely torn where there was a fold. Very disappointing.

Soft shoe with a very attractive vintage design. It has the strength and beauty of the leather shoe, combined with the most modern technical solutions.

I thought I found THE right shoes

Used for 3 years on the paths and GRs of Brittany, they accompanied me during my Beta tester missions of the Decathlon Outdoor application with great satisfaction: good waterproofing, good grip, no pain in the heel, back... .the perfect shoes...but this weekend I noticed while cleaning them after a 9 km walk, that they had cracks between the canvas uppers and the rear plastic part..... considering the price I would have liked to have had more resistance over time!!!!!....At the store I was told that 3 years was too long for shoes, that it was normal for them to tear.. ...I am disappointed and angry....

Very good hiking shoes 👟

Great shoe

I bought this shoe about 2 years ago and wore it every week, both on a regular walk and on a hike, even during the week to go to work where you wear them for 8 hours. They fit like slippers. Eventually it became really worn that the sole started to come loose. Very waterproof, good anti-slip, not too bulky or heavy. Highly recommended.

Disappointment on the lace loops

This is really the first season I've used my shoes. It's cold and wet (normal for a winter... They are cleaned after each hike. I didn't use them last winter because I had Achilles tendon problems. These shoes should be more resistant. In short the fabric lace loops have failed. Only the metal eyelets hold up. Very disappointed. In the store I was told to leave a comment on the site.....

good fitability, greased with seal grease for greater impermeability and resistance

Very good OCCASIONAL shoes

I used these mountain hiking shoes for a little over a year. I do between 1 and 5 treks per year of maximum 5 days + a few day hikes here and there... this year, I decided to do the Grande Traversée des Alpes, suffice to say that I was going to put 630km on them in the paws suddenly. Before this GTA, they were almost perfect: they kept up the pace, I had good grip on dry and wet surfaces (not soaked), the waterproofing should however be reviewed especially when it rains. After the GTA...well, I don't have any shoes anymore! After a week, they already gave up on me. Result, after 630km and 30000mD+ and as much in D-, my shoes are smoother than smooth, the soles are coming off in places and I am sure that they can accommodate fish if I walk in water. On the other hand, I never had foot pain with it, not a blister, nothing! I therefore highly recommend them to people for whom hiking, even on a trek, remains occasional: more than 5 consecutive days of walking, they will not last. Intensive walkers, go your way. Value for money, these are the best for me at the moment.

Routes suited to this boot

This boot is designed for trekking on generally low altitude routes and/or on trails. It can occasionally be used on more technical sections: passages over rocks, firm snow, slopes.

Benefit of the self-locking hook

With this material, you can separate the upper and lower lacingThis allows you to adjust the lacing to the shape of your foot and give your ankle as much freedom as you like. To separate the upper lacing from the lower part, make a simple knot level with your instep or use your shoes’ self-locking hook. All of our trekking shoes have this feature.

Contact® technology for our soles

The grip and traction of our soles is certified Contact®To be awarded certification, the boots must pass laboratory tests to assess the grip rate on different surfaces (smooth, rugged, dry, wet). To validate these tests, we assess the quality of our soles in the field, the mountains, by a panel of representative testers over more than 500 kmTheir notching also gives you grip adapted to muddy or wet terrain

Advantages and drawbacks of this leather model

Advantages: - supple leather- durable and waterproof, the leather prevents water running across the boot by repelling and absorbing it- breathable leather (natural pores of leather skin), but less so than a synthetic boot in strong heat. To reduce this problem, nubuck leather is used for greater breathability, but it is also more sensitive to the rainDrawbacks: - it needs to be nourished, hydrated and treated to remain waterproof

This boot’s waterproof level

This boot has been tested and validated for 10,000 flexes repeatable, equivalent to a 15 km walk, in water reaching the mid-upper. This now guarantees a good level of boot waterproofing.--> Our assessment indicates a LEVEL OF 3/5 giving 6 hours of waterproofing when hiking in the rain. The details of tests carried out to assess the waterproofing of our boots is below

Make this boot’s waterproofing last longer

A waterproof grease is recommended to nourish leather to stop it drying out (cracking), to make it waterproof and protect against stains1/ Trekking boot maintenance brush: 2/ Grease for re-waterproofing leather boots:

Increase your boot’s waterproofing with a gaiter

The waterproofing of boots is often compromised because water gets in at the collar of the boot. --> To keep your feet dry for longer, it is advisable to use a waterproof gaiter or mini-gaiter that will prevent water as well as pebbles and sand from getting inside through the top of the boot.Model perfectly suited to this trekking gaiter MT500 black

Product testing

As well as the various laboratory tests, these boots were tested in the field by passionate trekkers during a 500 km DURABILITY MISSION TEST, on the GR5 and trekking trails of the Canaries. Check out the film of this mission test by clicking this link:
