Coil too much

Bought this rope for climbing indoor in Gym. The rope is smooth, however, coil too much. At first, I thought because it is new and will get better after some use. but after 2 months it's still the same. I have to untangle it after every climb, which is very annoying. And it's very hard on belayer, as it gets coil too easily and has to uncoil it during the belay. Sometimes i have to uncoil simultaneously while giving the slack.

Thank you for taking the time to share your review of Indoor Climbing Rope 10 mm x 149' with us.

We are sorry to hear that you are not completely satisfied with our product. According to our research of an external website, below are the main reasons and solutions to this issue:

''Why do climbing ropes twist? Most often, ropes become twisted due to improperly coiling and uncoiling your rope. It can also happen when anchors are placed further apart from each other, or you have a tight radius.

When this happens, there isn’t a need to worry. Your climbing rope isn’t ruined, but the issue should be taken care of to ensure you have a safe climb. Fixing twists right away will also allow your rope to last much longer too.

Common Reasons For a Twisted Rope

No matter how careful you are with your climbing rope, twists and kinks are bound to happen. A rope can become twisted for any number of reasons, but there are four extremely common instances that will cause issues.

Coiling and Uncoiling

This is easily the most common reason for twist issues. While companies are steering away from the technique, many climbing ropes are factory-coiled in the same way, one would coil an extension cord. This is fine, but if you aren’t an experienced climber, you may think it’s alright to just take it out of the packaging and let it go.

Doing this will cause twists and kinks that can make it extremely difficult to unravel completely. It’s just like when you’re coiling up an extension cord, and it sort of warps on you a little bit. You’re going to spend more time trying to straighten it out than you would by being more careful in the first place.

The problem can be avoided by using an arm-over-arm uncoil method. This is done by rotating the coil over your arms a few times while somebody else pulls the end of your rope. You can also uncoil fairly quickly by feeding the rope through your hands.

Anchor Placement

You’re anchor placement while climbing can impact your rope, as well. A proper form would be when both anchors come to one focal point and make a “v” shape. If your anchors are placed further apart, it gives the rope more wiggle room to move around. This will, in turn, cause your rope to get twisted.

If you’re climbing somewhere with pre-set anchors and they’re positioned oddly, you can attach heavy-duty chainlinks to obtain the “v” shape.''

excellent rope

The rope handles very smooth, both in a gri-gri or ATC. Used for lead, toprope and toprope solo.

Good budget rope

If you don't need a super skinny rope, this has proved to be a decent work-horse for shorter crags. Handles nicely too.

45m Indoor Climbing Rope

We Use The New Rope On Saturday 5/9/22 And It Prove What It Claim No Problems With Fall And The Feeling Of The Rope Is Good For Belayer. Nice Holding Of The Rope. Can Buy To Use As Most Singapore Gym Is About 40m.

I've been using this rope for months. At first it was ok but after some use, the rope begins to coil wayy too much. When trying to lower climber, I've had to constantly untangle / uncoil, which is very troublesome, and potentially dangerous. Same thing happens when giving slack, so sometimes I couldn't give enough slack in time cuz I'd be busy uncoiling the rope to even first give slack. This is not a good product. I've had people told me they experience the same problem with this particular rope as well.

Weight

66 g/mPLEASE NOTE: Weight measurements made according to the EN 892 standard. For example, for a single rope, the rope must be exposed to 10 kg of tension for 1 minute in very precise temperature and moisture conditions. This gives you the real weight of the rope, which is often superior to the weight given by the standard. The weight measurement according to the standard is used to compare two ropes to each other.

Treatment for better fluidity

This rope features a plasma treatment which helps to improve the rope's smoothness when feeding it through karabiners and belay devices.

Middle marking

To improve your safety, this rope features a black mark which indicates the middle of the rope.

How to choose the right rope length

Note that the length of rope needed depends on the terrain as well as the height.Be sure to check with a staff member before climbing.Additionally, as a rope ages - no matter the brand - it may expand and shrink. We recommend you re-measure regularly.

Eco-design

To reduce the environmental impact, our designers have chosen to dye the strands of the sheath using a technology known as ”dope dyeing” (the inner strands are not dyed). This technology adds colour pigments as early as the manufacturing stage, before the strands are braided. This method stands out from traditional dyeing techniques by reducing the amount of water needed and the amount of waste water discharged from the dyeing baths.Score: 36% decrease in sheath strand impact.

Made in france

All of our ropes are designed and tested in Chamonix, in the Mont Blanc valley. They are made in northern France by our manufacturing partner, Cousin, expert rope makers for 170 years.

Washing your rope

It's important to properly care for your rope to reduce wear.As dirt wears ropes down, we recommend:1- using a rope cover;2- If the rope is dirty, wash it in fresh, lukewarm water. Should stains persist and you wish to wash it with soap, it's important that you use a pH neutral soap (such as Marseilles/household soap) and rinse very well in fresh water afterwards.3- Air dry the rope out of the sun and away from all sources of heat.

Storing your rope

Ropes should be stored in a cool, dry place, away from light, humidity, and corrosive agents. Never leave ropes inside a car during summer, for example.
