Poor quality of breaks

Front break broken after first day of use .not covered under warranty

A great bike for my daughter to learn to ride on. She is five and this was the perfect size for her.

Brake roulette, safety concern.

I did a click and collect in Coventry. Having only used balance bikes with no brakes, I taught my 5 year old daughter to squeeze the left brake first to engage the back brakes. After 6 months when I serviced the bike I found the brakes were the other way round. Left hand brake engaged the front wheel brake. No one informed me upon purchasing the bike (no info online or in store) that the brakes were not the (UK) standard way round. Just glad my daughter hasn’t flown over the handlebars. Decathlon customer service and store manager have given me the legal jargon ‘they don’t legally have to swap the brakes round to Uk standard as it’s considered a toy when the wheel size is 16”’ - no responsibility taken and if I want anything done about it - I will need to travel into store so they can swap the brakes around. I live 40 miles away - far from inconvenient. If you want to play brake roulette and risk your child’s safety, go for it. If not, I wouldn’t risk buying a child’s bike from them.

Perfect bike for my kiddo

Sturdy and absolutely amazing bike for my 6 year old. She loves it and had it purchased in-store, so no hassles of building it :-)

Good Bike, Crap Brakes, redesign needed

I have to say the bike itself is very good and well made and my daughter loves it she got it for her Birthday just under 2 years ago, we bought it big so she would grow into it, but I have to say the braking system on it is total crap, I fully appreciate its a child's bike but for the sake of an extra £10-£20 they could put a descent braking system on it and id still pay the money for it, ever since we have gotten it ive had to tinker with the brakes on a weekly basis to get it to work right and it not because I dont know what im doing, they are just very poorly made and designed and no, ive not taken it back to the shop because I know they themselves could not make them work any better. Its a poor design and something Decathlon really needs to look at. one other small issue is the mud guards are just slightly too close to the tyres when u consider kids go into all kinds of mud with these bikes,, the wheels sometimes get clogged up. The gap between the tyre and the mudguard should be about 10mm more, especially at the end of the back mudguard and no u cant adjust them any more than I already have because the wire that goes to the wheel nuts cannot be altered in length. Ive been buying from Decathon for nearly 20 years now and have bot lots and lots of stuff from them and this is only the 2nd time ive had to write a poor review on their products.

Lovely bike problems with front break

This bike is fantastic our daughter loves it and is able to cover a large distance thanks to the large wheels. The plastic brake system is great for smaller hands as the brakes are closer to the handles than traditional bikes meaning she can work them easily. Unfortunately the front brake seems to keep rubbing against the wheel rim which slows her down
