Questions & Answers

Question:

Can I swap these flat handle bars to drop bars? Using a third party brand?

Answer:

For sure you can, but that typically also envolves replacing the shift and brake levers.

Question:

Why didn't decathlon and rear hanger on this bike? If the origional price was indeed 900 dollars a rear hanger couldn't have impacted profit on a sale that drastically.

Answer:

Unfortunately this model was speced without a replacable rear dearaileur hanger. The Cost is driven by the aggregate of the components, in an effort to create the best value this is, unfortunately a production decision, but I have to agree...it would have been nice.

Question:

If I pick up in Oakland will the bike come assembled?

Unfortunately not, but they do come about 95% assembled. So the assembly should take you about 15 minutes or less

The bike actually comes both ways, flat bar and drop bar, but we may be out of stock on some of them if they are not on the webiste. We do not plan on bringing the bike back in the future, hence the clearance pricing.

Best Value Entry Road Bike!

Absolute best value for an all-purpose bike as a person who just rediscovered their love of biking! I honestly do not know how Decathlon profits at this price point of $500 and $99 shipping. If you could, I recommend buying in-stores and having any assembly double checked by a bike mechanic. The only thing lacking is the attention to details during assembly. Bike was shipped missing parts. Decathlon Customer Service was very professional and made me a customer for life. Bike wheels and axles are quick release so lining up the front disc brake, when reattaching the front wheel, and not having the brake pads rub is next to impossible. I needed to loosen brakes, reseat brake pads, and fiddle with the angle of attachment in order for it to not rub. Rear wheel squeaked when spinning. I fixed it as well. Entire bike was shipped undamaged. As a new cyclist, I considered this an initiation into the cycling world and enjoyed learning about my bike, so I'm not too bothered by it. I got to spend some quality time with my new love and give it some TLC before its first ride! Decathlon's Triban RC 120 rides very smoothly and is light, yet sturdy. I am very confident when riding and I am very happy with my purchase!

Great bike for the price, but when I received my brand new bike the brake discs were badly contaminated with grease making them unbearably squeaky. Had to order new pads and discs to replace.
