cool

comfortable jacket, fitted, sizing ok, although the sleeves could be slightly wider, works well in the rain, high visibility at night/in worse weather conditions, I also use it in winter as an outer layer

Great wind/rain jacket

Good visibility when commuting to work. Use them in winter with appropriate layers underneath. Keeps the heat well on the body during sporty driving. The waterproofness is also great, but after my training rounds I was soaking wet with sweat underneath. I can only recommend it to anyone who wants to be clearly visible in traffic.

Near perfect - because it's made for men

I had to go to the men's section to get that design (high visibility, reflective items everywhere, including the bottom back and arms for signalling turns, a front pocket - how sad it is that Decathlon does not provide that much safety in the women's design? It is the perfect winter rain jacket, so 100/100 for all the safety measures aforementioned. But it has a man's cut, meaning it doesn't cover women's hips and therefore roll up below your stomach. But it's still the best I had so far

Morning walk

Long but not very wide on the pectorals and belly, very narrow especially not thermal and very cold even with technical stuff underneath. I'm discouraged

Wind breaker

Excellent product, I really liked its quality.

The closures seem fragile,…

The closures seem fragile, I'm afraid they won't hold up over time.

Additional Product Information

Composition

Main fabric: 100.0% Polyester ; Yoke: 100.0% Polyester ; Coating: 100.0% Polyurethane

The en1150 visibility standard

The effectiveness of this jacket's visibility has been certified by an external Finnish laboratory according to the very demanding EN1150 standard. It guarantees excellent visibility during the day (thanks to the neon yellow) and at night (thanks to the very powerful reflective patches). The standard also requires 360° visibility. You'll be visible to all road users in all conditions.

Fabric waterproofing

A fabric's waterproofing is determined by measuring its resistance to the pressure exerted by a water column, measured in mm (test based on ISO 811 standard). The higher the pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. The RC500 jacket's waterproofing stats: 8,000 mm before washing, 5,000 mm after 5 washes.

Jacket waterproofing

It's not just the fabric that's important for the product's waterproofing; the construction is just as big a deal. The seams on the RC500 are sealed and we have chosen to use the waterproof YKK AquaGuard® zipper.

Fabric breathability (ret)

To determine a fabric's breathability we measure its evaporative resistance or RET (based on standard ISO11092). The lower its resistance, the more it lets water vapor produced by the body escape, therefore the more breathable it is. •RET <6: Extremely breathable, suitable for most intense workouts•RET 6 to 12: Very breathable, designed for moderate exercise•RET 12 to 20: Moderately breathable, not enough for exercise•RET >20: little breathability, unsuitable for exercise

Membrane or coating?

The RC500 jacket's fabric has a membrane. The membrane is a type of very thin micro-perforated plastic film (polyurethane) that makes the fabric both waterproof and breathable. It is also very supple, lighter, more durable and more breathable than a fabric with a coating.A coating is like a layer of paint on the underside of the fabric to make it waterproof. It costs less than a membrane, and requires a lining to protect it.

Fold-up flap

As you know, if the road is wet, it can be very unpleasant getting your shorts covered in spray from the rear wheel. To solve this problem, we've equipped the RC500 jacket with a retractable flap at the base of the back. It can be discreetly folded into the back of the jacket, and is very practical when needed. It goes without saying that adding a mudguard to the rear of your bike adds even more protection against splashes.

Cut

CLASSIC FIT: Fitted and comfortable. This timeless cut is perfect for your longer bike rides, whether in the saddle or having a break. This fit is tighter than our InchRelaxed Fit, Inch but not as tight as our InchPro Fit. Inch

Product testing

Our team of designers and cycling enthusiasts is based in Lille, in northern France, not far from Flanders and its legendary cycling routes. To get this rainproof jacket just right, we tested it all over Flanders throughout the winter: we believe that only by subjecting our products to real world conditions, like the ones you experience on your bike, can we continuously improve them.
