Question:

What is the internal dimensions of the main compartment. Thank you

Answer:

The bag has a 60 L volume with an extra 10 L extension. The volume of each backpack is measured using a standardised method. we use small balls to fill the main compartment as well as each pocket. The balls are then emptied into a graduated container in order to determine the equivalent volume in litres, with a margin of error of just a few %. Bag dimensions when in use: Height : 70 cm / 28 in Width: 40cm / 16 inDepth: 35 Cm/14 inBack length (= distance 7th vertebrate - ilium)

Question:

What is the smallest load (in liters) it can carry securely / without looking baggy or flopping around?

Answer:

The MT500 AIR backpack has a capacity of 60 liters, with an extra 10-liter extension. While we recommend not exceeding 33 pounds for optimal performance, it's important to distribute the load properly to prevent it from looking loose or unstable. Based on the dimensions provided (Height: 28 inches, Width: 16 inches, Depth: 14 inches), packing heavier items closer to your back and clothing around them will help ensure a secure fit without the bag appearing baggy or flopping around. The adjustable back structure with mesh fabric also provides breathability and comfort during use.

Very nice backpack

With this backpack I walked an average of 7 hours every day for 6 weeks with a full pack, approximately 8 to 10 kilos. About the Camino in Spain, with rain and heat. It is a very practical backpack, light as a feather but quite strong. The rain cover works well. The biggest advantage over previous backpacks is the ventilation on your back, there is no pressure point or sweat point due to the full mesh back, and the even distribution of weight on the hips. Very comfortable! Sufficient space and everything can be lashed down tightly. In my opinion, the only area for improvement is the corners on the inner frame, where the polyester fabric is vulnerable, especially at the bottom. After a week of use (often placing it on a stone surface) it was already damaged. I put a few layers of sports tape on it for protection. My suggestion: put a protective corner on all the outside corners, made of leather or rubber or something.

Please avoid purchase

Going by the technical description and guidance from the store staff, this appeared to a value for money rucksack as I was told it compares to the best rucksacks which can be priced above INR 20k+. Given all the features it does appear to be a good value prop, however from a practical standpoint its a complete antithesis of a comfortable backpack especially for long treks which should be THE primary and teh most obvious consideration for any back pack design. The metal frame to prop the back, which is supposed to make it ergonomic is possibly in my opinion is a major culprit and fault as 1. it add a lot of weight - no matter how lightly you pack the bag never feels light, you still feel the weight of the metal frame. consequently it gets worse as you increase the load. A fellow trekker also noted and called out the weight of the bag itself 2. because of teh frame and the hip pads and belt design, the bag can never be made to stand straight and falls and topples unless you prop it against something. This is a big no and likely to disturb your packing and damage contents everytime you want to rest it or dump it in a car or check in in public transport like flights, bus or train The hip belt also tends to slide and invariably the whole bag, and I had to constantly keep adjusting across my hips which gets tiresome as you are walking the miles which makes it not so ideal for the trek So while relatively not so expensive, it is still an expensive bag and investment for INR 9,000 while not delivering comfort and ease at all. You would be better off investing in possibly cheaper bags that are lighter and hold up well while you are trekking. Please avoid investing in this one at least

Great

In general terms, it is very good, but its ventilation is extra good. An aluminum frame separates the bag from the back with a thin mesh, so it does not stick to the back and the back breathes very well. Someone who hikes 15-20 km with a camping load will feel the difference I mentioned if they buy this bag.

Very practical with…

Very practical with plenty of storage space. Comfortable for carrying.

Generally like this pack, it has plenty of compartments for your belongings as well as a heap of straps and loops. Carry system is quite comfortable as well, plenty of airflow and the padding fits nicely. A generally well thought out pack, HOWEVER the side carry pocket and water bottle thing are absolutely no good for long water bottles. The mesh pocket is a front load, so the bottle sticks out into your arm and the water bottle holder is also front load, so you get the same issue. Likely not an issue with a short bottle, however if you go too short and squat a bottle, it wont even fit within the diameter of the rigid bottle holder. Incredibly strange design choice and I would be unlikely to pick this pack again due to this reason. Making the mesh pocket tall and with a top entry would fix this issue and allow people without compatible water bottles still carry water outside the pack. Otherwise it's a pretty great pack, water is a major part of hiking however and some more thought could have been put into this portion of the pack.

The best purchase made

I used it doing the guiding course in Benasque Valley, without words... wonderful acquisition, it fit all the equipment, I put the snowshoes on the sides, very good performance for hard treks, with water, snow and snow. Mobility best fits like a glove perfectly. Congratulations to the Brand and its designer.

The best rucksack for trek

I have used this bag in 2 treks, and this is my second purchase of rucksack after buying a bag from amazon, I learned- padding on the straps is required but too much padding doesnot implies that carrying would be comfortable. the main feature in a rucksack bag is its weight management. This bag has very good weight management, it has an outer frame that really helps in maintaining good posture while walking. the mesh on the back really helps to dry out the sweats on back while walking. The height adjustment is also fast and easy. the straps are very comfortable on shoulders and they also have holes so dry outs the shoulders too. Now the packing the bag- this bag has 2 features- one can pack the things like a sack- putting the things from the top and one can put the things inside the bag like the suitcase, this feature actually helps the beginners a lot. And as the bag opens like a suitcase also {front zip on left and right} one can easily take out or put things inside very easily without taking out other things. so the space management is great inside the bag. The two pockets on the sides doesn't merge out from the bag. the 2 bottles holder on both sides is very well placed to take out the bottle when walking. the top cover easily holds some essentials and can be used as a side bag. and the size extension is also very easy. So as a whole this is an wonderful rucksack bag. I bought 3 bags of different capacities and felt that the price spend is really worth for the bag as these bags are very easy to carry and even for long trails. My son age 11, walked from Bhujwasa to Gongotri carrying the 45 ltr version of this bag, he had his sleeping bag, jacket, etc. and he never complained about shoulder pain or too tiered to carry the bag.

Air design

As with the MT900 UL line, the MT500 AIR range has a ventilated back structure with mesh fabric (net fabric) that helps the back to breathe and dries quickly. Rigidity is guaranteed by a reinforced frame. The back is adjustable with a release strap that’s easy and quick to use.

Recommended carry weight

According to the project for which this backpack was designed, we recommend you don’t load it above 15 kg. Then you can benefit from all its features. Moreover, it’s not recommended to carry a load greater than 20-25% of your own weight and put too much pressure on your back.

How to pack a backpack?

Put your bedding at the bottom. Put heavy gear (tent, camp stove, food) near your back. Store your clothing around it. A groundsheet or tent can be placed under the flap or under the bag if there isn't room inside. Keep your waterproof jacket and fleece to hand. Place small items for daily use (sun cream, map, glasses etc.) in the pockets. The water bladder can be placed in the compartment provided down the back.

How to use the multi-use straps?

The new range of MT500 AIR and MT900 UL bags has two straps with open aluminium buckles (on the lower part of the bag). These straps let you hook on a tent or mattress under the bag or on the barrel. If not in use, these straps can be stored (by pushing them inside) in the hidden pocket intended for this or detached and used elsewhere with the lark's head knot buckle.
