Front arch poles way too long.

Like other reviews have said, the front arch poles that hold up the vestibule are too long. It took all of my strength to pull the tent fabric tensioned enough to fit the pole into the eyelet. Not only is that unsafe as I could hurt myself, I feel like the tent will suffer a shorter life due to the stresses being placed on the eyelet and seams. This may be due to differences in fabric cuts and sizes, but please ensure the poles fit, or have the poles size matched for each individual tent. Other than that, I am still yet to test this tent out, but the rest seems great.

Defective design

The arch pole over the entrance is too long so cannot fit through the tent / be connected. After translating the 1 star reviews, it seems this is also a known problem in France and Germany. I tried to call Decathlon Greenwich in the UK to consider a repair / for them to shorten the pole but no one picked up the phone. So instead I had to just get a refund via WhatsApp (since the general contact centre apparently can’t arrange repairs). Glad I tested the tent in my living room rather than the freezing cold campsites of Norway! Usually a big fan of Decathlon quality but very disappointed by this faulty design!!

Would 100% recommend

I bought this tent and went to Snowden for 3 days, the weather was awful, very rainy and windy all night and day. The tent was so good, I stayed completely dried and warm, and there was no condensation, no dripping, or anything which was really nice. I’m very impressed with this tent. It’s also very easy to put up and down and the bag is very practical. 10/10 for decathlon onde again, they never disappoint!

DONT BUY !!!!

FIRST NIGHT OF CAMPING IN THIS TENT INSIDE ZIP FALLEN OFF AS WAS ZIPPING IT BACK UP TO GO TO SLEEP AS WAS WORKING AWAY IT INVOLVED CAMPING STARTED SPITTING RAIN AND LEAKED THROUGH SO I WOULDNT RECOMMEND THIS TENT TO ANYONE SPEND THE EXTRA DONT PAY TO SPEND CHEAP

Awesome little tent

Used this for a 6 day trip in Scotland. It withheld the Scottish Highland weather really well, felt sturdy. Easy to put up, love the aluminium poles. This is coming from someone who spent her summers selling tents at Go Outdoors Trust me It's a great tent!

Superb design, brilliant value for money

I used this tent solo. on a six day tour across Northern England. It is so easy to put up and had plenty of of room for bags in the porch. In June the weather ranged from sunny to heavy rain. The tent goes up as one and I was very soon in the dry inner, changing out of my wet clothes, safe from the torrential rain and the squally wind. I am still staggered how decathlon do it ; value , good design and quality. These words rarely appear together.

Pretty good

Great build quality and easy to set up. However it lacks ventilation which makes it difficult to use in summer or hot weather. It can get quite stuffy, even at night

For HONG KONG camping

Considering the climatic conditions in HK, this tent holds nicely. I used it on my trip to Tap Mun and it held up well. It kept the frost and wind out (and should hold off rain quite easily too). It's faily light and sturdy. I didnt use a groundsheet but i will be sure to add it next time for protection to the underside of the tent for longetivity. Oh, and it looks damn good especially from the side. The vestibule offers nice space should you want to keep your bags in, but I didnt. It is spacious for 2 people. It is not recommended for summer camping as there is only two little vents. IF I could improve/modify it, I would add a mosquito-net-door on the inside for easy flow of air, to keep bugs out and for visibity of the outdoors from inside. Stay safe and leave no trace in the wilderness.

Slightly overpriced but I still like it.

The tent looks fantastic in daylight and night. The Color is an artistic choice by the design team. The hassle free experience of setting up the tent as one(not setting up the inner and outer separately) is a bonus. You just have to place it on the base and use the high quality provided poles to pitch it. Both the layers are already hooked together but are detachable if needed. The dome in the front is useful for obvious reasons like keeping shows and bags etc but it also gives a very spacious feel to the camp. Light does not pass through it easily outward but the tent lights up well in daylight from inside. If you were to use lights inside at night time it won’t glow like a bulb which happens with many others tents. I have been camping from 3-4 years now and I have always used Decathlon’s camping products. In this particular case the product is no doubt as always superb but the price to value ratio seemed a little bit off. I would have loved this more at 4999/- Not a major thing but I felt like sharing the same.

Very nice product

Less Ventilated

It is a strong and sturdy tent with good looks. But i wish i could be more ventilated cause during rainy weather it gives too much condensation.

Tent 2 Persons

Nice product and very light weight.and it is easy to carry during bike bicycle expedition. Love it

Amazing Experience In HAMPTA PASS TREK

I used this tent for the first time in Hampta Pass Trek in Himachal Pradesh this post lockdown. I loved the compact size of the tent. I love the tent packing which has wide opening which made it a lot easier to pack the tent after we un pitch it. The extra space/flap outside the tent was amazing and we kept our shoes, sandles and both of our 70L backpacks which was perfectly dry even after a small shower of rain and gave us ample space to use the inside space just for sleeping. The colour of the tent is perfect. It's visible from far and the reflectors on the strings is soo practical for the night. Also my insta grid looks amazing because of this Lovely colour of tent.

This space is for organizing and storing your bivouac equipment. 2 pockets in the room, 1 hook on the top inside to hang a lamp.

Architecture, tent poles, and tent pegs

Lightweight shatterproof and frost-proof aluminum tent poles: 7001 Ø 8.5 mm. Tent pegs/stakes: Length 6.7", Ø 6.1 mm. Non-anodized 7075 aluminum for maximum strength and lightness while lowering the environmental impact. Traditional dome shape to make the structure free-standing. A front tent pole with a peak provides additional volume and therefore a more habitable porch.

Pitching/striking

The Forclaz tents are tested fully pitched in the laboratory: 200 L/m²/h for 4 hours, i.e. equivalent to a tropical rain shower. They are also tested in the field by a sample user group. 75-denier PES polyester flysheet and groundsheet, polyurethane coating on the inside, water-repellent treatment on the outside. Seams taped with heat-sealed strips. Multi-component and water-repellent 75D polyester bedroom that is breathable, provides protection from the wind, and reduces condensation.

Wind-resistance

We test all our tents in a wind tunnel on a turntable where we can expose each side of the tent to the wind. To test its wind-resistance, the tent must be properly pitched, taut but not stretched, with all the guy ropes in position around the tent. It should remain habitable at wind speeds of 37 mph, measured near ground level. Our tents are certified by the CSTB independent laboratory in Nantes.

Ventilation and condensation prevention

Bedroom with mosquito screen for ventilation and water-repellent fabric to protect from condensation and drafts. There is an air vent at the back of the tent. To reduce condensation inside the tent, it must be correctly assembled with a canvas that's taut, but not excessively so. The use of the air vent and good air circulation reduces moisture inside.

Seasons

3-season tent: Your tent will protect you from the harsh weather conditions you can encounter in the spring, summer, or autumn. It will withstand light snowfall but is not designed to withstand heavy loads that would weigh on the structure. In case of snow, remember to shake your tent regularly in order to bring down any snow that has accumulated to avoid putting too much weight on the structure of your tent.

Eco-designed tent

We have decided to use "biton" thread for this tent's bedroom fabric (1 out of every 2 threads is dyed to reduce the impact). Textile dyeing requires a lot of water but also produces waste water from the dye baths. To reduce this impact on the environment, we use only 1 mass-dyed yarn out of every 2 and thereby reduce our consumption and our impact on water.

Tent eco-design (continued)

The tent pegs are not anodized. We have stopped using nitric and phosphoric acids to fix the color because its only function is to make them look aesthetically pleasing. Your tent pegs can have an "untreated" or "used" appearance, but they retain all their technical characteristics and strength. The fabric of the room is bulk dyed, which reduces water consumption and CO² emissions. These actions help to reduce the environmental impact of your product.

Repairs and after-sales service

As designers and users who love our field, we care about the durability of our products, which is why all our tents are designed to be repairable. You will find the detachable parts (poles, bedroom, etc.) in store or in the workshop of your local Decathlon, on the website, or at the address support.decathlon.fr If you have a problem, don't hesitate to have your tent looked at in your local Decathlon store. Repair kit (ferrule, patch): 0.7 oz

Product testing

The waterproof rating of the Forclaz tents is validated by placing a pitched tent under 200 L/m²/h shower of water (tropical rain) for 4 hours, and checking that no water passes through the seams, flaps, openings, zippers, etc. The water column test (= mm Schmerber) measures the waterproof rating of the fabric. We test all our tents in a wind tunnel, on a rotating table to check all 4 sides. We also perform tests on the components (abrasion, tearing, perforation, etc.)

Storage instructions

After using or cleaning the tent, dry it thoroughly before storing to avoid bad odors and mold.
