Rock rider jacket

This jacket represents very good value for money. The product description is accurate although you the elasticated pockets are perhaps not deep enough I like that you do not have to double jointed to get to them. A little Scotchlite would have been nice.

nearly perfect

Firstly I was a little concerned buying as I had to order it and I like to try things on. It arrived on time and the fit was perfect, I ordered the Large which was the recommended size, perfect fit. I am 6ft with a 42inch chest, athletic build. PROS * good fit * tough fabric, resists thorns etc. * price (half price of similar Endura products) * easy to grab zips * breathable * shower resistant * drop tail a nice touch * good for single figure temperatures and possibly below zero with correct clothes underneath CONS * pouch pockets are not ideal (good for snacks, gels but not keys, phone or anything of value, I lost some gloves) * no reflective bits * could do with front air vents * front zipped pockets would be ideal For the money though it is a brilliant piece of kit, If I lost this one I would definitely get another, I would of given 5stars if the Cons were already there.

Great fitting jacket.

I am a skinny 6'5" rider who rides a lot. The 2xl is perfect for long arms and body without being at all baggy or loose. This jacket fits right in the middle of my seasonal wear, ie great for these spring, cooler days. It is well ventilated and doesn't feel damp inside.. Only slight criticism is the lack of the usual 3 rear pockets, but I managed using a small frame bag instead....

Great but not without its flaw

This jacket is great - it looks great, its nice and warm, comfortable and a great cut for your body's position when riding a bike. It also has a very low 'tail' which keeps the small of your back warm. However unfortunately it isn't perfect. The only niggle is that the elasticated pockets are next to useless. They are not very deep and the elastic is not really strong enough to stop stuff falling out.The zipped pockets are good and overall I would recommend this jacket without hesitation - just remember you will need somewhere else to put the stuff you normally stick in your pockets (camelbak backpack or saddle bag etc).

Not as warm as advertised

This jacket is short in length at the front. Therefore recommended with bib shorts or tights. The rear pockets are poorly designed so things easily fall out. The front phone pocket is very good. It's not as warm as advertised. I froze with this jacket during the Manchester to Blackpool nite ride when temperatures were low enough to frost cars and fields . On the plus side it is comfortable to tide in. This jacket is suitable for an autumn day ride with two layers underneath.

The 4 layers you need to stay warm when mountain biking.

How to stay warm and dry during winter MTB tours We're going to explain the 4-layer technique for the upper body: Start with a layer of underwear. For the second layer, place the straps of the bib over the top. Your anorak will then form and in the event of poor weather, a waterproof jacket will provide the 4th layer. Are you ready? Then get ready for your winter mountain bike tours, and cycle in comfort.

A clever design: cut, seams, materials...

The bib at the rear stretches down to the saddle, protecting you from splashes. The diagonal cut across the shoulders provides greater freedom of movement. The anti-slip waist keeps the jacket fitted close to your body. The foam-backed neck and wrists provide greater comfort and protection. The different fabrics ensure warmth, ventilation, and durability. And the full zipper closure can be opened and closed single-handedly, even with gloves!

No need to carry a hydration backpack!

A bottle holder on the frame is all you need to get going! Thanks to its pockets, this jacket allows you to cycle without carrying anything on your back. - 1 secure, waterproof vertical pocket at the front for your phone, accessible with one hand, even when wearing gloves! - 1 secure rear pocket for your keys, documents, etc... - 1 side pocket for an inner tube and hand pump. - And 2 side pockets for your cereal bars... and empty packets!

How we tested the st 500 jacket... with you!

We surveyed mountain biking clubs in 5 countries as part of the design process for this product. This resulted in 50 hours of interviews and 1000 user questionnaires to try and answer this question: "What do you want from a winter MTB jacket?". Once the prototypes were created, they were tested with users. On the menu: your feedback and your experience to ensure we offer a product that meets your needs.

We are incredibly proud...

... resulting from 18 months of designs, models, prototypes, surveys, tests and feedback with the entire design team. Why? to ensure we provide you with an innovative, accessible, comfortable, clever product that is suitable for your mountain bike touring.

Advice from the design team:

One last tip for before you hit the road (or should that be the trail)? "The most important thing is to be well equipped... or to be well supported!" To avoid any unpleasant surprises and to ensure your mountain bike tour doesn't turn into a long hike on foot, remember to prepare for any snags or technical issues. With a relaxed mind, you'll be able to enjoy yourself even more!
