Product Customer Reviews

I bought these for my wife and she loves them. Regular gloves don't always keep her fingers warm, but full mittens also prevent her using them on her phone. These bridge the gap-- she can keep her fingers warm but pull the tops back when she needs to use her phone, etc
Keep your fingers and hands warm in the cold, if the get too hot you can expose your fingers perfect for winter and the snow
Loved them
Good thanks
I did measure a medium, but would have been better to get a large. I worne them in 5 degrees Celsius, but I have to say my fingers where freezing cold.
These are simple and functional. Doing photography these are perfect to be able to quickly handle my camera. Be careful with anything metal in your pockets they can attach to the magnet
Used for activities, not great for coldest Canada winters but very good for everything else. Sometimes awkward to get on and off but the loops help a lot. Would recommend
i would love these without the finger holes, which make it impossible for me to make a fist for warmth unless i pull my fingers out. however the fabric is great. i don't think i can return them, so i'm thinking about cutting out the finger holes.
Warm and excellent grip
I've not worn these yet but giving this review basically by the quality of them. Also the fact I packed them with other mandatory kit I require for an ultra and they are a real space saver 👍
Great quality for the price, and include a lovely faux fur lining, plus loops to pull off and pull on. Nice and tight round the cuff and good magnetic fasteners when you flip into fingerless mode. Very handy for dog walking whereby fingers are needed to attend to the dog or his poop
Excellent value. Fit well.
Fantastic gloves... Highly recommended
Great pair of gloves. Love that they can double as fingerless gloves and warm mittens. Also love that the thumb can be made fingerless too.
Got these for sailing, I need my fingers but they get cold at night or in hell. They kept my hands warm but the grip wasn’t amazing (but for the price I’m being overly critical). The magnet to hold the mitt back works well.

What improvements have been made compared to the old model? (the old model corresponds to the code 8396265)
The Trek 500 glove-mittens have been improved over the years based on all the customer reviews. Thanks for sharing! Here are the points that we worked on for this new winter 2020 collection: - it is now easier to get the mittens on/off, even when wet. - The cozy brushed fleece makes the inside of the mittens feel warmer! A pleasure to get your mittens back on!
How is usage temperature measured?
All our gloves are laboratory-tested on a thermal hand. The minimum temperatures for use (recommended and limit) are the result of a study carried out with a test panel of 23 hikers exposed to temperatures ranging from 41°F to -4°F and 6 mph winds. These temperatures are only valid in walking conditions. The Trek 500 mittens have a warmth rating of 3 out of 5. Recommended temperature: 18°F | Limit temperature: 7°F
How to properly protect your hands from the cold
By applying the layering principle, you can optimize the insulation of your hands. Consequently, by wearing liner gloves in addition to gloves, you create several air gaps around your hands, which provide effective insulation from the cold. For this to work properly, your gloves must be big enough not to compress your fingers and allow a good blood flow.
What does a windproof glove provide?
These glove-mittens have a 100% windproof membrane, which is ideal for keeping warm, even in strong winds. Did you know that the wind makes you feel colder? With an outdoor temperature of 32°F and a 12 mph wind, the perceived temperature will be 14°F. The windproof components reduce the wind chill resulting from the cooling effect of the wind or apparent wind generated by the sporting activity.
Ease of use of the glove
A very well equipped fingerless glove: - easy to get on using the wrist strap that just needs to be pulled with the opposite hand - strap on the middle and ring fingers to facilitate the removal of the mittens - magnet on the back of the hand to keep the mitten part open - pairing buckle to link your gloves during transport or storage
How to keep your hands warm with the right clothing
When active, the body generates heat which is preserved thanks to the thermal insulation of your clothing. If the clothing is inadequate, your body cools and the blood flow to the hands and feet drops in order to keep your upper body warm. Your clothing can therefore play a role in keeping your hands warm
What is the dexterity of a glove?
The dexterity of a glove is its ability to handle objects. Our gloves have been scored in the laboratory on a scale of 1 to 5. The closer the glove's dexterity is to 5, the more the glove can handle objects in the same way as the bare hand. In particular, we tested how easy it is to get a jacket on and open it with the open mittens. The dexterity of these mittens was given a rating of 2 when the mittens are in place, and 5 when the mittens are removed.
Has the rain gotten inside your mittens?
If this happens, then dry them in a dry place, but avoid placing them on a heat source. This could damage the fiber and they could lose their shape!

Product testing
In early November 2019, we tested these glove-mittens with a group of people who were independent of Decathlon. This year, we packed our bags and headed to the small village of Ecole, in the heart of the Bauges Mountains. Given that the winter arrived earlier than expected, we had the opportunity to test and validate these mittens in the field under real-life conditions, which were very cold. We even had snow during our bivouac!
