Perfect for Snowshoes and really warm
Theses boots are great for weather between -1 and -20 celcious I also wear warm socks underneath so my feet are warm and cozy. I like that they are light not heavy like other boots. I use these to do my groceries or to go to work or commuting in the city. Theses boots don’t grip so well on icy sidewalks so be careful and keep that detail in mind. For now theses boots do the job well.
Love these boots so warm and comfortable, perfect fit.
These are a good solid boot and so warm with the fleece liking throughout. Much better quality than some more expensive brands.
I had high hopes when I tried the boots on in the shop and they were a perfect fit. Certainly felt that my feet would be kept dry and warm, plenty of grip on the sole, plenty of support around the ankle but able to walk in them. Unfortunately on wearing them I found they caused me pain across the top of the foot where the waterproofing is stitched to the material. Not sure if this is a design fault. But I am very pleased that the returns policy is that you can buy, try and if you don't love them you can take them back. Sorry Decathlon these will be coming back. I shall be looking for something else though.
Bought these to walk up Snowdon in. First time putting them on and wearing them for a substantial time I cannot recommend these boots enough. Zero pinching or rubbing for the entire day and we did over 6 hours of walking! My feet felt supported and cushioned the whole time. Brilliant boot and I can't recommend them enough.
I originally bought these snow boots for mucking out at the stables I actually bought a size bigger so as to put thick socks in but to my amazement they are so warm with just little ankle socks I could have bought just half a size bigger..they lasted me over 18 months with daily use so this purchase I'm hoping will last the same...great value, fit and comfort.
I bought these boots because colleague of mine recommended them to me. Firstly I didn't believe that boots are actually good, since boots were very cheap (in Serbia, where I come from, you usually have to pay at least 100eur, and it is not guarantee for dry legs), but I had to try - my legs were freezing. Anyway, when I got boots, I went outside on snow. My socks were - dry. So, the only thing I don't like is that they are not as warm as I though, but never mind. I put two pairs of socks on :)
I bought these boots out of desperation, 2.5 hours before catching a flight to Norway, and they didn't let me down. Temperatures were as low as -21 degrees, and yet, these boots kept feet dry and reasonably warm in deep snow, and they performed well with snow shoes. The boots might be a bit narrow if you've got broad feet, and I'd suggest buying one size up from your regular shoe size.
I bought these boots as I am going to Iceland and have been breaking them in during the snowy weather in London. While the boots are comfortable and warm , they have no grip whatsoever on ice. My feet skidded on small patches of ice on the pavement this morning - so the all the information on "maximum traction on all kinds of winter terrain (snow and ice)" is misleading.
I have just done Snowdon with these shoes and was nicely surprised how well they did. They maybe stiff but that is what gives it great ankle support. Good on soft snow but for icy snow I would recommend getting some spikes. Very comfortable boot!
I bought these about 6 months ago to use for working in the outdoors, at first they were amazing but if you want a shoe that lasts, these are not the one. After a few weeks they stopped being warm and waterproof. If they aren't going to be used much then they will probably be okay, but they are shoes..they get used.
I bought these boots a year ago and absolutely love them. They're cosy, comfy and I ranted and raved about them to anyone and everyone. Unfortunately this last week, the black top layer seems to be coming off one of my boots, and when I went out today, I realised this stops it from being waterproof. I came home with one very soggy foot. I'm really upset, as to me they seemed the perfect boot, but I would have expected them to last for more than a year. Unfortunately I can't find my receipt (as they do have a 2 year guarantee) so I am now going to be out of pocket as I'll need to replace them. All in all, a great boot, but make sure you keep your receipt somewhere safe!!
I bought these boots for my trip to Lapland. I preferred them to snow boots because I don't often visit places with lots of snow. They were warm enough to walk on snow and ice up to -12°. They were also comfortable for walking around in town. I will definitely use them in multiple occasions. Stylish as well, much better than the usual pink/purple/furry snow boots available for women.
Reference to them being slightly narrow (I could only select moderate) is due more to the fact that I have a very high instep and the more I wear them the more they bed in. I have worn them for walking in the UK and also as snowboots in the Alps. They are comfortable and they kept me warm and dry in the snow and never slipped once, they offer good support plus being totally manmade is brilliant for me being Vegan. Excellent boots.

We have selected warm and insulating materials for this shoe, providing good protection against snow and cold. We have tested it in the laboratory and in the field with our user representatives. We checked the temperature up to which it stays comfortable when you're stationary and when you're walking, as this varies a lot: 25°F when static and 3°F when moving. And we took into account how temperature is felt differently by men and women.
Your shoes have been designed with a membrane to ensure optimal water-resistance. A membrane is a very thin component (5 to 25 micrometers) affixed to the inside of a fabric that prevents water from entering while allowing moisture to escape. While you stay warm in your shoes, your feet will also stay dry. The sole insulates from the cold coming from contact with snow.
We made sure that your shoes are waterproof by conducting laboratory tests to simulate walking with the boots half submerged in water. We also conducted field tests to measure wear and aging. During the waterproofing test, we test 3 levels of waterproofing: 2000 flexes (about 2.5-mile walk), 4000 flexes (about 5-mile walk) and 8000 flexes (about 10-mile walk). This model of boot has been tested with up to 8,000 flexes, which is equivalent to 10 miles of walking.
Thermal comfort is a balance between the warmth of the boots and its ability to allow the foot to breathe. Too much heat or not enough breathability, damp accumulates and cold can set in. We have designed your shoes with your activity in mind, regular and sometimes intense, with a membrane whose role is to prevent water from entering on one side while allowing moisture to escape on the other.
The traction of the shoes depends on the number and shape of the studs. The grip is dependent on the materials of the sole and the tread pattern, like the tires of your car. Traction optimizes propulsion, prevents the boot from slipping backwards when going uphill and stabilizes the boot. Grip prevents the shoe from slipping and skidding on smooth ground or in demanding conditions (rain, snow, ice) by giving grip to the sole.
The SNOWCONTACT soles are designed using a specific component and stud pattern (5 mm) to provide the best possible grip and traction. SNOWCONTACT soles are more effective than traditional soles on snow. When walking on ice, the only way to ensure optimum safety is to add anti-slip grips to your boots.
The support provided by your shoe is essential for your comfort when walking. Indeed, good support optimizes your steps on hilly terrain (ascent and descent), prevents your foot from sliding in the shoe and reduces the occurrence of blisters. There is less loss in the transmission of your energy to the shoe and therefore less fatigue. This is especially important when you are snowshoeing.
We designed these shoes for hiking on snow, with or without snowshoes. The upper of the shoe (mid-height type) combined with gaiters (external or integrated in the pants), provides good protection against snow getting in. Waterproof and warm, their support and rigidity are more suitable for walking with snowshoes.
Our engineers conduct laboratory tests to fully guarantee your satisfaction in use. We validate the following elements among other things: strength of the eyelets and straps, strength of the glued assemblies, toxicology, UV resistance, abrasion resistance of the sole and upper components and accelerated aging.
To be well equipped in winter, we recommend that you follow these principles: Warmth: increase heat with warm socks (ideally with a suitable % of wool) Breathability: Choose your socks depending on the intensity of the hike and wear breathable models to limit damp. Height of the boots: adapt the height of the socks to the height of the upper and opt for hi-top styles if you need more protection.
The water repellency of a fabric is its ability to let the water slide off its surface, without absorbing it. In this way, the fabric does not soak up water and therefore remains lightweight, breathable and warm. Water repellency is obtained by a treatment applied on the outer surface of the fabric. This treatment needs to be renewed during the lifetime of the garment. Products (spray or liquid) designed specifically for this purpose are available in our stores.
We designed these shoes as one of the elements of the perfect set for your cold-weather hikes: the SH500 set. Equipped with your pants, your SH500 fleece, SH520 shoes and your SH500 snowshoes, you will be able to enjoy your snow excursions whatever the weather, or almost. In any case, there's no need to wait for ideal conditions or to take everything with you in your rucksack, but you can travel light and well-equipped!
